About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Errantes, from Latin “the ones who wander,” focuses on topics in social and cultural anthropology. It features papers investigating intersections, hybridizations and border-crossings (or their impediment) of people, objects, practices, memories, ideas. The journal favors ethnographic and theoretical contributions that focus on inequality and power, encounters and conflicts, marginality and subalternity, mobility and migration, resistance and creativity. Furthermore, the journal aims at pushing anthropological debates outside their comfort zones, in order to experiment with alternative ethnographic forms and problematize the epistemological tools specific to the discipline. Errantes also wishes to enhance interdisciplinary collaborations and to promote the public dimension of anthropological knowledge.

Peer Review Process

The review process consists in a double-blind peer review. The editors will assess whether the submission is eligible for review. After this assessment, if positive, the submission will be sent to two external referees.

The process entails the following steps:

  1. The editorial team notifies the author(s) once the article is received.

  2. The members of the editorial team evaluate the thematic relevance of the article with respect to the areas of interest of the journal.

  3. Once the first evaluation has been successfully completed, the article is sent to two anonymous reviewers for reference.

  4. Based on the assessments of the referees, that must be delivered within five weeks, the editorial team notifies the author(s) of the final decision on the publication of the article.

Based on the reports of the reviewers the editorial team, will make one of the following decisions:

A. The submission is rejected. In this case, a written explanation will be provided.

B. The submission is rejected in its current state. In this case, the author(s) will have the opportunity to re-submit the paper, taking into account the comments of the referees and the editor. When the submission is rejected in its current state (B) and the author wants to improve the paper, the editor assigned to that paper will support the author.

C. The submission is accepted.

The journal also reserves the right to decide in which issue to publish the article.
